Zakat al-Fitr
What Is Zakat al-Fitr?
The Prophet ﷺ instructed the believers to give a small amount of charity known as zakat al-fitr toward the end of Ramadan and before the Eid prayer. Throughout Ramadan, we strive to perfect our fasts and worship but often find ourselves falling short. Zakat al-fitr purifies our fasts from these shortcomings and is given to people in the community facing hardship so they can share in the joy and celebration of Eid.
Zakat al-fitr is an obligation that must be fulfilled before the Eid prayer, although it is recommended to give it earlier so it reaches those in need in time for Eid. Zakat al-fitr is due for every member of the household, including children.
How Your Zakāt al-Fiṭr Is Distributed
Qalam distributes zakat al-fitr through trusted relief partners who ensure that funds reach eligible recipients in accordance with Islamic guidelines. Our goal is to ensure that families facing hardship receive assistance before Eid. The recommended amount this year is $15 per person.
May Allah accept our worship throughout this sacred month and make our zakat al-fitr a source of blessing for us and those who receive it
