Qalam Part-Time Hifdh Program

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

Qalam's Part-Time Hifdh Program is designed for students who are ready to take the next step in their Qur’an journey, moving from fluent reading to structured memorization and long-term retention of the words of Allah. With a balance of memorization, review, and tajweed, this program builds discipline and character in a spiritually enriching environment.

Program Focus

  • Daily memorization (sabaq): New portions of Qur’an memorized with teacher guidance.

  • Review (murājaʿah): Systematic review of previously memorized portions.

  • Retention (manzil): Long-term consolidation of completed portions.

  • Tajweed mastery: Correct pronunciation, articulation, and application of tajweed rules.

  • Memorization strategies & discipline: Time management, structured learning habits, and consistency in practice.

  • Islamic Studies and Qur’anic Vocabulary: Structured learning of a variety of Islamic Studies topics including salāh and tahārah, while weaving in commonly seen words in the Qur’an to increase a student’s understanding of what they memorize.


Our goal is for students to begin structured Qur’an memorization with strong support in tajweed, retention, and character building within a spiritually nurturing environment.

WHO CAN APPLY:

  • Students who:

    • Have fluent Qur’an reading skills.

    • Are ready to begin consistent memorization and review.

    • Can commit to regular attendance and practice.

TUITION:

  • Resource fee: $50 yearly 

  • Tuition: $2,250 yearly

    • We do offer a payment plan option: $450 monthly for 5 months  


HEAD TEACHER:

Hafidh Ifdal Yusuf completed his Hifdh under Shaykh Abdelkarim Edghouch, received Ijazah in various Qira’at from Shaykh Tarek Anwar at Al-Azhar through Mishkah University, and continues studying Qur’an under Shaykh Sa’ad Hassanein.He is also continuing his studies through Qalam’s Foundational Islamic Studies program and has over a decade of experience teaching Qur’an to children and adults.

  • Who is the Hifdh teacher?

    • Our head teacher is Hafidh Ifdal Yusuf. He completed his Hifdh under Shaykh Abdelkarim Edghouch, received Ijazah in various Qira’at from Shaykh Tarek Anwar at Al-Azhar through Mishkah University, and continues studying Qur’an under Shaykh Sa’ad Hassanein.   • How long will it take my child to complete Hifdh?

    • At Qalam, we emphasize that Hifdh is a journey—one that prioritizes quality over quantity. Our focus is on building a meaningful connection with the Qur’an, trusting the process, and ensuring students retain what they memorize. 

  • What if my child doesn’t qualify for Part-Time Hifdh right now?

    • We encourage students to strengthen their Qur’an reading and memorization skills through Qalam’s After-School Maktab Program. Our admissions assessment will include personalized recommendations for next steps.

  • Are scholarships available?

    • Yes. For inquiries about scholarships, please email hifdh@qalaminstitute.org.

  • Is there a separate program for boys and girls?

    • No, boys and girls will be in the same class while adhering to Islamic guidelines.

  • What is generally a good age to put my kid in Hifdh? 

    • Most students begin Hifdh around ages 7-8 years of age, but this depends on their reading fluency, memorization ability, focus, motivation and maturity level. We accept beginning students up to the age of 16.

  • What level of Qur’an proficiency is required before entering Hifdh?

    • Students must be very fluent in Qur’an reading with proper Tajweed and demonstrate the ability to memorize and retain their memorization.

  • What qualities will help my child become successful in this Hifdh Program?

    • Successful Hifdh students demonstrate discipline, committing to daily memorization and review with consistency. They are teachable, showing a willingness to learn and accept guidance. Humility is key, as they respect the Qur’an and the learning process. Additionally, they must have focus, the ability to concentrate for extended periods, and drive, maintaining internal motivation and perseverance throughout their journey.
