More often than not, our understanding of the Quran has been framed around religious law and performing ritual worship; the Quran tells us what to do and what to avoid, and it's also an essential part of our daily prayers. The reality is, to the Prophet Muhammad (S) and his companions (RA), it was that and more. It served as a moral compass in confusing times, a spiritual anchor of faith to keep them connected to their Lord, and as a consolation and rejuvenation for their hearts and souls when they became physically, emotionally, and spiritually fatigued.
Surah Ad-Duha is considered by some scholars of tafseer to be the second revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (S), sent as an affirmation to the first revelation, and as a strength to his heart in his newly appointed role as Messenger to Humankind. God speaks directly to His Beloved Messenger - and through this conversation, to all of us - about how to process and persevere through life's challenges, with beautiful poetic language and powerful images.
In this class, we will explore the theme of strengthening faith in this short but wonderful chapter in the Quran that Allah gifted us, Surah Ad-Duha.
